The Ignatian is the College's annual publication showcasing key events, milestones, and stories from across the Riverview community. It features student achievements, alumni news, College initiatives, and reflections on faith and service. With contributions from staff, students, and Old Ignatians, it offers a rich and engaging record of each year. View the digital collection of The Ignatian publications on the OIU website here. The 2025 edition of The Ignatian opens with a reflection from Rector Fr Tom Renshaw SJ (OR90), who draws on the Jubilee Year theme "Pilgrims of Hope" to invite the Riverview community to live with compassion, courage and generosity. His message sets the tone for a publication that highlights hope as a guiding force in the College's mission, grounded in Ignatian values. This edition marks a leadership transition, welcoming new Principal Mark Tannock and farewelling Dr Paul Hine after 12 years of significant contribution. College life is captured through a wide array of student achievements and community initiatives, from academic success to co-curricular highlights. Standouts include the College's strong rowing program, with continued success across age groups, and the vibrant Aladdin Jr musical—celebrating student creativity and teamwork. The 2025 theme "Serve with Honour" echoes through stories of leadership, justice, and faith in action. Alumni are prominently featured throughout. Michael Rodgers (OR2014), currently a seminarian in Rome, meets Pope Francis. Joe Kelly (OR2001), Washington Correspondent at The Australian, shares insights on the responsibilities of journalism in a time of global change. A feature article celebrates Dr Francis Harding Burns (OR42), who marked his 100th year in 2025, Sean Cunial (OR87) provides an overview of the Old Ignatians' Union's recent initiatives, and James Rodgers (OR71) is acknowledged for receiving the Medal of the Order of Australia in the 2024 Australia Day Honours, in an interview with Noah Vaz (OR2013). The edition also highlights alumni involvement in community service. Ben Fordham (OR94), James Gray (OR98), Jeremy Church (OR98), and Tom Cutler (OR2012) continue to support residents at De Porres House through Cana Communities—upholding the Ignatian call to be men for others. The impact of the Bursary Program is also brought to life through the stories of Jonah Johnson (OR2015), now a leader in Indigenous media, and Jack Griffiths (OR2015), who appears in this year's bursary appeal video. Paul Mattiussi (OR2002) also reflects on personal growth and professional resilience. Click on the above link to view this, and so much more! |
