OIU/P&F GOLD CUP BBQ
Tuesday, 27 February 2024
It was a beautiful day down at the Riverview wharf for the 140th running of the Gold Cup Regatta and the OIU/ P&F BBQ was in full swing from early morning before an oar touched the Lane Cove River. The Bacon and Egg rolls were proving very popular as usual (over 300 sold throughout the day) but it didn’t stop a couple of hungry punters putting in steak orders for breakfast! Whilst the crowd numbers were a little down on previous years, with fewer girls crews participating, BBQ orders continued throughout the day until around 2pm. Despite the lower crowd numbers BBQ sales were only slightly down on last year.

A huge vote of thanks to all our volunteers from both the Old Boys and P&F. We simply could not do it without your support and with all profits going toward the bursary program your contribution is keenly felt across the entire school community. There are always a few reliable and consistent supporters, who put their hands up each and every year and we remain deeply grateful to those people, whilst at the same time strongly encouraging our wider Old Boy network to consider putting in an hour at the upcoming winter sports BBQ’s. An hour shift to give back to the school and those kids who would not otherwise be able to afford the education and experience we were all so fortunate to receive is a very worthy cause.

Please do consider if you can spare just one hour when you see the next Call to Tongs emails/ Social Media etc. Even better grab a crew of a few school mates and sign up via the link when it comes around.

Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible down at Fr Mac Pavilion for the upcoming Winter Sport season!

Cheers JJ
