Introducing Principal Mark Tannock
Thursday, 20 February 2025

It has been a genuine pleasure to commence my role as Principal at Saint Ignatius' College Riverview this year. I am very fortunate to have been offered the position by the College Board and the Jesuit Province and I am committed to serving the mission of this Jesuit school.

Having moved onsite with my family, I have been working closely with the Rector, Fr Tom Renshaw SJ (OR1990), and learning about all this school has to offer its 1600 students and their families. I have been meeting with a number of staff and parent representatives, but the greatest experience has been getting to know the boys – both day and boarders. They are terrific young men. I have also met with OIU President, Sean Cunial, and attended the first OIU Committee meeting of the year. Sean and the other Old Ignatians spoke with passion about the College and the impact that Jesuit education has had in their lives.

The Old Ignatians' Union has a reputation of being a standard-bearer of independent school alumni associations. I hold that the Union has a vital role to play in supporting its members and in supporting the mission of Riverview. I will be supportive of the OIU and its presence in the life of the school during my time as Principal. Thank you to those Old Boys who have welcomed me so warmly in recent weeks.

I look forward to meeting many of you in the months and years ahead.

Please don't hesitate to contact me at the College if I can be of any assistance to you.
