We Have a World Debating Champion

Mark Rothery (OR16) won the World Universities Debating Championship in January this year. He is Riverview’s fourth winner following on from Paul Hunyor and Greg O’Mahoney (both OR 94) and Chris Croke (OR03), a record that no other school in the world gets close to. Mark was also judged second best speaker at the tournament which was held in Ho Chi Minh City. Mark was debating for Oxford University where he is completing a BPhil, focusing on philosophy of mathematics. His Oxford studies are supported by a World Universities Ramsay Postgraduate Scholarship. Well done Mark, a great achievement |
