Old Ignatians' Rugby Update

The Old Ignatians' Rugby Football Club has merged with Lane Cove senior rugby club in 2024 to become the Lane Cove Old Ignatians' Rugby Football Club. The merger was agreed as it provides increased stability for both clubs, leveraging the significant ties both have in the local community to generate a larger pool of potential players. It also provides the OIU Rugby Football club with high quality training and playing facilities closer to home. The club is fielding two senior teams and a colts team. Anyone interested in playing can contact Andrew McInerney (OR93) on andrew.mcinerney@oiu.org.au or visit the Lane Cove Old Ignatians Football Club website for details. Club training is held on Thursday evenings at 7pm at Tantallon Oval, Lane Cove. Four games into the season and the Colts are on top of the table with 3 wins from 3 games and a bye. Unfortunately the two senior teams are having a tough time of it with Seniors 1 in 7th place with one win and three losses and Seniors 2 in 8th place with four losses. Their next match is Saturday May 18 - Round 5 ("Away") All teams v Sydney Harbour from 12pm at Lyne Park, Rose Bay So grab a mate or come on down on your own to reconnect with with old friends and cheer on the team. Better still, let us know if you are interested in pulling on a jersey and get down to a training session this Thursday. |
