VALETE 2023 ADDRESS: GIANNI TARANTO (OR14)
Thursday, 12 October 2023
Each year at the Valete Assembly, the Occasional Address is delivered by an Old Boy who has lived an exemplary and aspirational life since leaving school. The College was fortunate to have Gianni Taranto (OR2014 and Dux) return to address the graduates about his life experience and to offer some words of wisdom as they leave the gates. Gianni has spent the last year working with the World Food Program (WFP) in Somalia, with the enormous responsibility of securing food for a large population, a significant proportion of which are in dire circumstances. One of our more adventurous young members had the privilege of addressing this year's Valete Assembly in Ramsay Hall.  Gianni spoke about how the values of courage, commitment and compassion drive me and are crucial for their next life chapter. He said it was "surreal to be back at such a memorable event, and to reconnect with old teachers, parents and friends"

Committee Member Sam Shepherd (OR91) attended the event to represent the OIU and was very impressed with Gianni .. "Gianni's ability to communicate to boys and adults alike was just incredible. I get the sense he has the ability to walk amongst kings and paupers."
