25 years after graduating, the Class of ’98 came together last weekend to celebrate. Festivities kicked off with a marvellous meal at Grappa on Norton St where we could have stayed all day. We did eventually move on to watch the classic clash of Riverview v Joeys at Leichhardt Oval.
Joining the huge number of supporters to watch the annual challenge between two great schools was terrific. Both teams played with passion and great skill that we assured ourselves we inspired. The eastern hill of the old ground had the best view of the school war cries. The new one where ‘View used their blazers was a real highlight. Being amongst so many friends and families from both school communities, from all ages, makes this particular ritual so easy to embrace. And great to get a win for the good guys.
Dinner and drinks were at the Union Hotel in North Sydney where our long-standing friendships were revived along with some wonderful memories. Our lost friends were remembered, as were their families. We are so very blessed to have our community in difficult times. How lucky we are to have gone to Riverview. It’s easy to forget how much we enjoy each other’s company until we get together. Lock in the Joeys match in 2028 to do it all again!
