RIVERVIEW vs JOEYS OLD BOYS' GOLF DAY 2023

After a two year hiatus due to Covid lockdowns the Riverview vs Joeys Old Boys’ Golf Day was held at Avondale GC on Wednesday 7th September, with sixty-seven keen golfers turning out to play. Despite some recent wet weather, the course was in good condition but playing tough, providing a great test of skills. Congratulations to the following competitors who produced some superb rounds to get amongst the prizes: Sam Mills (OR 2015) who won the Phil De Baun Trophy for the best score for old boys aged under 30; Patrick McKeon & Jerome Back (both OR 2012) who combined to win the Kevin Slocum Shield for the best 4-ball score; and Derick Borean (OR 1991) who conquered all to win the Bob Barry Cup with the best individual score. Most importantly, in the Challenge Match consisting of the aggregated best 20 stableford scores from each school, I’m proud to announce that Riverview triumphed over its arch-rival 623 to 585 to retain the silverware for a fifth successive time.
