GOLD CUP BBQ A RUNAWAY SUCCESS |
The 139th Riverview Gold Cup Regatta was held last Saturday on the Riverview Course, with over 1,00 athletes competing in a 52 race program. As this was the first Gold Cup to have spectators since 2020, The Union, together wit the P&F hosted a BBQ/food tent on the School Wharf. Team Captain JJ Bull harnessed volunteers who signed up to fill the various shifts, starting at 6.30am and going through until the last race. The proceeds from the day exceeded $3000 ! On behalf of the Union and the School community, thanks to those volunteers who gave up large chunk of their Saturday to stand over a hot BBQ ! This day is a rare opportunity for the School to welcome in members pf the GPS Community onto our campus and we showed them a warm welcome and a well-cooked steak sandwich. Last but not least, we congratulate all crews who competed on Saturday and wish the GPS Crews every success as they prepare for the Head of the River next month. Daniel Bolger President |
