The OIU Sports Lunch 2024 Recap + Video
Tuesday, 10 September 2024

On Friday 23 August, more than 230 people attended the Annual OIU Sports Lunch at Doltone House. Our largest event each year, we had a great mix of young, middle aged and older old boy groups, as well as past parents and friends and key partners from the school. Russ Feilan did a great job MC'ing the day and running two entertaining sessions. The first involved community members Jack Bowen (OR2021), Eddy Caspers (OR2021) and Nathan Strempel (Master in Charge of SIC AFL) talking about their careers in first grade and representative sport along with their perspective of which game is actually played in Heaven. This was followed by an inspirational fireside chat with Charlie Pidcock (OR1987) and Des Mulchay (OR1992) on their successful English Channel swims and the impact the experience had in their lives. The crowd was then free to mingle and chat, catching up with old friends and meeting new ones. A large crowd kicked on after lunch at the Tatersall's Bar downstairs, with the last of the stragglers finishing up around 9pm. A wonderful day of reconnecting and I look forward to catching up with old friends again next year.
