Darcy Hall Jesuit Mission Bazaar Appeal
Wednesday, 21 August 2024

For more than 70 years, the Bazaar has been our annual fundraiser supporting Jesuit Mission in their work to improve the lives of those living in poverty and injustice.

In recent years our OIU support has been designated to Jesuit Mission's Emergency Action Fund. Since 2021, combined with generous gifts from other Jesuit Mission supporters, this Emergency Action Fund has assisted over 820,000 vulnerable people in 12 countries to survive devastation, crisis and turmoil.

This year we are called to respond to the escalating humanitarian crisis in Myanmar - over one third of Myanmar's population is living in extreme need; more than 2.8 million are displaced, while access to basics like education, healthcare and employment are severely limited. Jesuit Mission's Emergency Action Fund allows their local partners to provide immediate relief such as shelter, medicines, food and clothes, and to ensure critical education of children and youth can continue through crisis.

As Old Ignatians, we can help through our participation in the Bazaar and we ask you to consider making a tax-deductible donation to Jesuit Mission's Emergency Action Fund, to support those in need.

"In our own small way, we can contribute to the work of the Mission. Help us to give and not to count the cost."
The late Darcy Hall (OR 59), Bazaar champion

Thank you again for your ongoing generosity and support. The OIU has been the backbone of the Bazaar since it began over 70 years ago. Your support can bring transformational change to the lives of individuals and families in desperate need.

And remember to please mark your diaries. We hope to see you at the Jesuit Mission Bazaar at Riverview on 14 September!

Our very best wishes and thanks,
