Success for Riverview AFL
Monday, 12 August 2024

2024 has been another highly successful season for the Riverview AFL teams, with the College fielding seven teams altogether from Years 7 to 12, and taking out the 1st XVIII and 2nd XVIII premierships.

On Friday 9 August, the 1st XVIII defeated a gallant Knox team in a tightly fought grand final in front of a big crowd of supporters from both schools that was staged under floodlights at Gore Hill Oval. With the match evenly poised at half time, the Riverview team took control in the third quarter, with the final score being 50 - 36 to Riverview in a close decider. The victory means Riverview has won the 1st XVIII competition twice in the last three seasons, which includes being runners up in 2023.

On Saturday 10 August, the 2nd XVIII defeated Redlands 61 - 20 in their grand final at Macquarie University. The score reflects a great team effort, and was more comfortable than the two teams' previous encounter, which resulted in an 8 point victory to Riverview over Redlands.

In other news, the Year 9/10 Division 1 team also had a fantastic season, resulting in being runners up after a tough grand final against Waverley College.

Congratulations to all players and coaching staff.
