The Old Ignatian Sports Association, part of the OIU, provides financial assistance to a number of Old Ignatian sporting clubs. These include the Lane Cove Old Ignatians Rugby Football Club, the Old Ignatians Football Club, the Old Ignatians Cricket Club and the Old Ignatians Water Polo club. These sporting clubs provide an opportunity for old boys to connect with one another whilst continuing to play sports that you have an affinity for. 

Old Ignatians Cricket Club 

The OIU proudly supports 4 Old Ignatians' Cricket Club teams, catering for anyone (you don't have to be an Old Ignatian) of all ages - our oldest current cricketers are into their 60s. We have 2 open age teams playing in the Northern Suburbs Cricket Association who play on astro turf every Saturday throughout summer. One side is a bunch of excellent individuals, in their early 20s, with all but one player being an Old Ignatian. They won their respective division last year with a thrilling win in the final. The 2nd side are made up of more elderly gentlemen, and they too won their respective division last year. The season runs from early October to mid April.

The other 2 teams are a Masters (over 40s) and Classics (over 50s) side, and are part of the Sydney Masters Cricket Association. These teams play every Sunday fortnight (11 games a year) on turf on some of the best grounds in Sydney - Rawson Park, Mosman Oval, & Ryde Oval, just to name a few. This competition also gives you the opportunity to play tournament cricket throughout the country, and in fact the World, with Port Jackson, NSW, & Australian representative teams from Over 40s, up to Over 70s. The Australian Over 50s just completed an unbeaten tour of the UK. The season runs from late September to April. Training often takes place on Friday afternoons followed by cleansing ales at The Diddy, our major sponsor.

Old Ignatians Football Club 

OIFC currently has one team registered, being All Age Division 11 in the North West Sydney Football (NWSF) competition. OIFC trains 8pm every Wednesday at Blackman Park, Lane Cove. Over the last 10 years, OIFC has enjoyed much success over the many teams it's fielded. Premiership winning seasons include: - 2015 All Age 4's - 2018 All Age 1's - 2020 All Age 7's - 2022 All Age 5's

Lane Cove Old Ignatians Rugby Football Club 

This year marks the first year of the amalgamatian between two storied rugby clubs – the Lane Cove Rugby Club with the Old Ignatians Rugby Club. 

The club competes in division 3 of the NSW suburban rugby union competition. The regular season has just been completed, with the first grade side finishing in 7th position on the ladder. Second grade had a challenging season, recording a winless season. The highlight for the club has undoubtedly been the performance of the Colts team, who finished the regular season 2nd on the ladder in the Nicholson Cup under coach Robert Palmer (OR 92). The boys will be playing Knox Old Boys in the major semi final on Saturday August 10 for a position in the Grand Final which will be held on August 24th. Training is held through winter on a Thursday evening from 7pm – 8:30pm at our new home ground, Tantallon Oval Lane Cove, an easy distance to our major sponsors the Longueville Hotel and the Diddy for "tactics sessions" before and after games.
