Dr Frank Long (OR46) was recently farewelled at a service in Canberra. The OIU was well represented in their support for his wife Gabrielle, children Michael, Judy, Peter (OR76), David (OR78), Christopher (OR80), Justin (OR84), Nicholas (OR88) and their families, including some of the 22 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Frank commenced at Riverview in 1941, graduating as Dux in 1946. He studied Medicine at Sydney University and graduated in 1952. He then completed his residency at St Vincent's Hospital and married Gabrielle at Riverview in 1955. They moved to Griffith NSW where Frank joined a private practice as a General Practitioner in partnership with Dr Gordon Oxenham (OR36). The next move was to Canberra as a Consultant Physician where he worked for several decades, the last two years as ACT Director of Palliative Care, before retiring in February 1999. During his 32-year career in Canberra, Frank established his reputation as an exceptional Doctor. Frank was also a member of the Order of St Lazarus of Jerusalem, Catenian Association, Serra Club, St Vincent's de Paul and Woden Rotary. Frank was much-loved member of the OIU and a strong supporter of the School. He rarely missed a Nostalgia lunch! OIU News |
