Andrew McKay (OR90) and Knox O'Connor (OR2023) were recently thanked by the Black Dog Institute at its annual Luminaries end of year function in Sydney on 25 November in recognition of their respective efforts in supporting Black Dog in 2025. Andrew was recognised for his continuous efforts in raising over $2m in funds via the Zoo2Zoo (cycling) and WomDomNom (canoeing) charity events over the past 15 years. In recognising Andrew's efforts, Peter Joseph, the Chair of the Black Dog Institute, said that Andrew was being awarded the equivalent of a Victoria Cross for his tireless efforts in the benevolent army of volunteers who support the Black Dog. In responding, Andrew mentioned that he first learned about the Black Dog Institute at an Old Ignatians' Union breakfast event in the city in 2009, at which Tim O'Sullivan (OR1987) spoke about his upcoming tour of rugby games in country NSW to raise awareness of the Black Dog Institute. Knox was recognised for his incredible effort in running 30 laps of Centennial Park (108km!) on Saturday 8 November in support of the Black Dog Institute. You can read more about Knox's incredible feat elsewhere in this newsletter. Congratulations Andrew and Knox.
