Ambrose Hennessy (OR2024) Drummoyne Rotary Club – Community Spirit Award
Monday, 15 September 2025

The Drummoyne Rotary Club Community Spirit Award celebrates a rower who exemplifies the core values of Sydney Rowing Club: service, leadership, and a genuine commitment to the club community.

For the 2024/25 season, we are proud to honour Ambrose Hennessy with this award in recognition of his outstanding character, leadership, and positive influence both on and off the water.

As a coach, it has been an absolute pleasure to work with Ambrose. It is rare to come across a young athlete who combines such natural leadership with humility, a strong moral compass, and an unwaveringly positive attitude. He consistently sets the tone for those around him, leading by example, encouraging his teammates, and bringing out the best in every crew he is a part of. Ambrose's impact goes well beyond the boat park. Whether it's welcoming new athletes, helping with equipment, or quietly lifting spirits after a tough session, he embodies what it means to be a true clubman. He takes pride in being part of Sydney Rowing Club and in turn, has become someone the entire club is proud to call one of our own.

While we are incredibly excited for Ambrose as he heads off to Boston University in the United States, he will be missed immensely—not just by myself, but by his close friends, crewmates, and the wider SRC community. We wish him all the very best in this next chapter and look forward to welcoming him back post-studies.

We're thrilled to congratulate Ambrose Hennessy as the recipient of the 2024/25 Drummoyne Rotary Community Spirit Award. A deserving recognition for a young man whose character and commitment make a lasting impact every day.
